Osprey Nest Webcam

We are in our 19th year! Thanks to our host, the RI Turnpike & Bridge Authority a new camera, solar panel, batteries, transmitter and receiver were installed in 2021. All are working well!

Our 2023 Osprey nesting season was a sad one. Unfortunately, we lost all three chicks and we are not exactly sure why. Probably starvation as something may have happened to the male osprey. Hopefully, 2024 will be a better nesting season.

Other Notes:

Osprey born several years ago will return this year and will be looking for a nesting site. We did erect two new nest platforms this past spring: One on the west side of Round Marsh, and one on a private property on Beavertail.

Nest sites on Conanicut Island have increased every year with approx. twenty-four sites available in 2024. Eighteen nests were active in 2023. Not bad since we only had one in 2005!
